EMAS verification
incl. ISO 14001:2004

Since July 1996 DI Dr. Rudolf Kanzian has been accredited as environmental verifier according to EMAS from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management and has been one of the first environmental verifiers in Austria. From 1996 to 1999 he worked for DET NORSKE VERITAS (DNV) as executive environmental verifier and built up the environmental verifier organisation for DNV in Austria.

Since 1999 he has been serving as self-employed environmental verifier and supports customers in the development of their environmental management systems with practice-orientated audits.


The branches (see branch authorisation), for which he is accredited are diversified and offer the possibility to do verifications in different organisations.

In the time at DNV he gained the qualifications for a leading auditor for the certification of quality (according to ISO 9001), environmental (according to ISO 14001) and safety-management systems (according to SCC and OHSAS 18001). Consequently, he has a very good understanding for integrated management systems.

His audit-philosophy is characterised by the practical realisation on-site, the observance of relevant legal regulations and the continuous further development of management systems. The principles of the Austrian environmental verifiers concerning the topics ‘legal compliance’ and ‘environmental aspects’ are a clear base for his activities. These contents have even been a base for his surveys before the workshops for verifiers of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management.
